September 24, 2020 - Multnomah County passed Ordinance 1287 which extends the Statewide Eviction Moratorium that is scheduled to end September 30, 2020 - through the end of Multnomah County's "Emergency Period" - scheduled to end January 8, 2021.
If your rental property is located in Multnomah County and a tenant has been unable to pay rent due to the Pandemic, a landlord may not deliver a notice of termination of a rental agreement based on a tenant's nonpayment balance; initiate or continue an action under ORS 105.110 to take possession of a dwelling unit based on a notice of termination for nonpayment delivered on or after October 1, 2020; or take any action that would interfere with a tenant's possession or use of a dwelling unit based on a tenant's nonpayment balance; assess a late fee or any other penalty on a tenant's nonpayment; or report a tenant's nonpayment balance as delinquent to any consumer credit reporting agency.
Following the emergency period (Multnomah County only) a tenant with an outstanding nonpayment balance has a six-month grace period to pay the outstanding payment balance.
